LED Engin's LuxiTune Crowned Best Modular SSL Light Engine in the Sapphire Awards

Held in North America

San Jose, CA, USA: LuxiTune developed by LED Engin, Inc. has been named Best Modular SSL Light Engine in the inaugural Sapphire Awards organised by North America's flagship lighting trade journal LEDs Magazine. With competition across 13 categories, the awards program celebrates innovative solid-state lighting technologies used by product developers and recently launched products that serve general lighting applications.

Raising the bar even further for luminaires competing in this very competitive market area, LED Engin's LuxiTuneTM is a class-leading compact white light LED engine solution, which enables ultra-precise and easy-to-control CCT tuning and dimming of downlights and track lights to successfully mimic natural light sources.

Maury Wright, LEDs Magazine Editor-in-chief, explains: "LED Engin's LuxiTuneTM enables SSL products that can take advantage of the superior dimming capabilities of LEDs, and perform in a manner that exactly replicates warm halogen and incandescent sources."

One awards judge describes LuxiTuneTM as "a very elegant and sophisticated color-tunable light engine that is also well documented." Another judge adds, "It's a solution people are asking for in a form-factor that works for most customers."

LuxiTuneTM delivers warm, uniform, soft tones of dimmed light in a compact single emitter while maintaining color quality and consistency within three MacAdam ellipses over the full dimming and correlated color temperature (CCT) range. Combined with the benefits of a long and sustained service life, LuxiTuneTM provides high lumen density and lux-on-target performance.

David Tahmassebi, President and CEO of LED Engin, comments: "Winning the Sapphire Awards is another important milestone for LuxiTuneTM which delivers true CCT tuning along the black body curve without any shifting in hue seen in rival products. Since its release, the product has continued to evolve and deliver technological success which explains why it has gained an exceptional level of industry recognition."

Both tuning curves track the black body curve closely and with LuxiTuneTM Gen 3.0, flux is adjustable from 100% all the way down to less than 0.5%, thus accurately simulating the soft turn off of halogen light sources.

With the complementary secondary optic, luminous efficacy for Gen 3.0 is 63 lumens/W at steady-state temperature and Color Rendering Index (CRI) is 90 at 3000K, being maintained at an average of 85 as the LED is dimmed across the CCT range. Optics are available in 24°, 32° and 45° beam angles.

The Generation 3.0 light engine features a DALI digital control interface, complementing existing DMX compatibility, and also delivering flicker-free operation with industry-standard analog 0-10V dimmers.
