Demand for high-tech products, particularly opto semiconductors, remained strong. At €1.03 billion, the group's revenue on a comparable basis was up by 5 percent relative to the prior-year quarter. EBITDA adjusted for special items amounted to €172 million, which was nearly the same level as a year earlier. The adjusted EBITDA-margin reached 16.7 percent. Osram Introduces Next-Gen Photodiodes Featuring Smaller Package Size and Improved Flexibility For Customers

November 17, 2017

Osram Opto Semiconductors presents the world’s first surface-mount technology (SMT) package for large-area photodiode chips, which are ideally suited for use in rain sensors. The new SFH 2200 A01 and SFH 2200 FA A01 are mounted behind the vehicle’s windshield. When a raindrop falls on the windshield, the diodes detect a change in the incidence of light. This change is then translated by the system to control the windshield wipers and the rate at which they operate. The photodiode chips comply with the strict demands of the automotive industry and are approved to operate at temperatures up to 125°C. The SFH 2200 A01 and SFH 2200 FA A01 photodiodes also meet the requirements for AEC-Q101-C qualification. Once again, Osram Opto Semiconductors supports the trend for the miniaturization of photodiodes.
