Wilmington, MA and Orlando, FL – North American lighting leader OSRAM SYLVANIA is launching the OSRAM BackLED Plus Square Lens, providing superior sign face uniformity in small, shallow channel letters and box signs. The company has also further extended the simplicity and efficiency of its BoxLED Plus LED signage product line to include accessories to directly retrofit fluorescent T12HO lamps in existing signage. The same BoxLED Plus LED modules that are widely utilized in the signage industry, in both single-side and double-side versions, can now be simply and quickly installed with the BoxLED Adapter System. They are a great solution for easily replacing T12HO fluorescent lamps utilizing the existing R17d sockets. These new products, along with other long-lasting, efficient LED signage solutions from OSRAM SYLVANIA, will be at Booth 439 at the ISA Sign Expo in Orlando, Florida from April 21 – 23, 2016.

“Our full portfolio of advanced OSRAM LED signage modules and power supplies are rigorously tested to meet the highest standards of the industry,” said Erich Bockley, signage product manager, OSRAM SYLVANIA. “With our new square lens addition to the BackLED portfolio for channel lettering, businesses now have finer control over light distribution in small and shallow signs, ensuring a bright and uniform appearance. In addition, our new BoxLED accessories make it easy to retrofit fluorescent signs with the latest in high quality LED lighting. This simple retrofit can reduce energy consumption by 50 to 75% in a typical 4’x8’ box sign and the long life of the LEDs will significantly reduce maintenance costs.”

The BackLED Plus Square Lens family is a revolutionary step forward in the optical performance of LED signage modules, addressing a common challenge faced by the signage industry. In larger channel letters, LED modules having round beams patterns are typically used. However, when channel letters get smaller and more shallow, round beam patterns need to overlap, and therefore require more modules, to get a uniform distribution on the sign face. With the 160° square distribution of the new Square Lens (SQ) optics family, the beam patterns do not need to overlap to deliver a uniform sign face, therefore minimizing the number of modules required to achieve professional results. Ideal for signs as shallow as two inches deep, the Square Lens products are available in two module sizes - BackLED M Plus SQ (2 modules per foot) and BackLED S Plus SQ (2.44 modules per foot). Both are available in three color temperatures (3000K, 4000K and 6500K) and red, with the BackLED S Plus SQ also available in green and blue.

All modules are connected via flexible cables and are single board cuttable for creating a custom fit for each installation. Fast, accurate installation is simplified through pre-mounted adhesive tape and mounting holes. These modules are IP66 rated to protect against dust, moisture, and condensation in outdoor operation. All BackLED Plus modules are optimally paired with OSRAM OPTOTRONIC® 12Vdc power supplies, available in both dimming and non-dimming models. These modules are listed in the UL Sign Components Manual (SAM) for new signage installations and are UL Classified for retrofit installations when paired with OPTOTRONIC power supplies.

The new BackLED Plus SQ products join the BackLED B and BackLED Plus modules, comprising a complete portfolio of quality products to light any size channel letter.
